April 10 and April 24, 7 PM - 9 PM at 19 Madison Ave, Endicott
April 30 two shifts of volunteers going to CHOW's warehouse. They will sort food donations and put together meal kits for families. Volunteers must register through the Binghamton University's Global Days of Service registration page. Please select Q Alumni Network: CHOW / VAST Sorting and Packing - shift 1 (5 PM - 6 PM) or Q Alumni Network: CHOW / VAST Sorting and Packing - shift 2 (6 PM - 7 PM).
The Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW®) is a network of food pantries in Broome County that aims to make emergency food available to people in need of short-term assistance. Visit https://broomecouncil.net/chow/ for more information.
- CHOW distributed over 3.8 million pounds of food in 2024, serving over 3.2 million meals in Broome County!
- CHOW salvaged 3.25 million pounds of food from local stores and restaurants last year, all redistributed to families instead of ending up in landfills!
- CHOW provides services to over 120 pantries, meal sites, and residential homes in our network at no charge.
CHOW Shopping List Recommendations:
Cereal - kid-friendly ones
Beans - black beans and pinto beans
Soup - chicken noodle, tomato, clam-chowder, potato, minestrone
Canned Vegetables - corn, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes
Pasta - spaghetti sauce and assorted pastas
Fruit Cups - mixed fruit, mandarin oranges, pears
Rice - long and jasmine
Canned Meat - tuna and chicken
Please avoid glass jars as they can break in transport!
Additional useful items to include: dishwashing detergent, feminine hygiene products, toilet paper, diapers and baby wipes, spices/seasonings, tea and coffee, shelf-stable boxed milk.
